Common Questions

How to search by using "Database" field?
There are two types of databases to choose to search:
'Reviewed' database contains proteins reported in SwissProt;
'Unreviewed' database contains proteins reported in TrEMBL.

How to search by using "UniProtKB AC/ID" field?
"UniProtKB AC/ID" can be used to look for the specific proteins.
The definition of "UniProtKB AC/ID" can be found in UniProt.
Example: P04217

How to search by using "Gene" field?
The "Gene" field refers to gene name.
The protein-coding gene names can be found in UniProt.
Example: A1BG

How to search by using "Protein" field?
The "Protein" field refers to protein name.
The protein names can be found in UniProt.
Example: Alpha-1B-glycoprotein

How to search by using "Site" field?
The 'Site' field refers to the glcyosite, which is an integer starting from 1.
This can be used to check if all protein isoforms have the identical glycosites combing searching on other fields,e.g. 'Protein'.
Example: 43 of MUC1

How to search by using "Peptide" field?
The 'Peptide' field refers to the sequence of peptide.
Example: KPLAnVTL

How to search by using "Motif" field?
The 'Motif' field refers to the motif of glycosylation pattern.
The motif of N-linked glycosites sequence pattern is usually "NX[ST]" (X is not P).
The following example shows all proteins containing 'NAS' patterns of N-linked glycosites.
Example: NAS

How to search by using "Source" field?
The 'Source' field refers to the sample sources, e.g. tissues, cell lines.
The following example shows all proteins from "Urine":
Example: Urine

How to search by using "Year" field?
The 'Year' field refers to the publication year of the glycosites reported.
The identical glcosites can be reported by different publications in different years.
The following example shows all proteins contaings glcosites reported in Year 2015.
Example: 2015

How to search by using "Reference" field?
The 'Reference' field refers to the reference ID of the glycosites
The following example shows all proteins reported in the reference 36.
Example: 36
You can find the list of all the references here.

What's the format (e.g. capitalization) of key words?
The capitalization of the letters will be ignored.
The searching is based on the key word 'LIKE' during SQL execution, so partial matching is supported.
